Learning and Career Center Manager- Excellent learning environment with great opportunities.

About the position:

The Learning and Career Center Manager meets regularly with the residents to create and execute a career or educational plan. We equip them with the life and career skills needed to be self-sufficient upon leaving Shepherd’s Gate.  The Learning and Career Center Manager oversees the education and training of the residents in the Shepherd’s Gate Programs. This person will oversee all volunteers in the Learning and Career Center. Must be able to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.

Job duties: (not a complete job description list)

LEARNING AND CAREER CENTER DUTIES

  • Be available to minister to, encourage, and support residents in their learning process. 
  • Conduct orientation with residents to create a case management plan to ensure career or educational goals are met.
  • Continue to meet with residents to accomplish the Learning and Career Center goals.
  • Ensure the Learning and Career Center is open frequently and provide guidance to the residents in the computer lab. 
  • Ability to assess and develop individual learning plans as women learn at their own pace to master writing, math, reading, comprehension, GED preparation, and computer literacy skills.
  • Provide and research new curriculum and resources to teach courses and workshops for the residents.
  • Ensure residents are equipped with life and career skills, including making and keeping a budget, writing a resume, interviewing for a job, and using online job search resources. 
  • Collaborate with outside learning and career specialists (job fairs, schools, organizations, church partners, and volunteers) to provide residents with additional learning and networking opportunities.
  • Use Salesforce to track the residents’ progress in the Learning and Career Center and program classes.

PROGRAM CLASS DUTIES

  • Direct and manage the Shepherd’s Gate Road to Freedom Program classes.
  • Oversees all classes, needed material, supplies, and class schedules for the Shepherd’s Gate Program. 
  • Oversee orientation for new residents for class schedules and class expectations.
  • Manage and attend activities and events for the residential program on and off campus.
  • Attend weekly program meetings to provide feedback on resident participation and growth in the classes.  Attend leadership meetings and required training.
  • Hold residents accountable for class attendance, homework assignments, program activities, and program guidelines.

VOLUNTEER DUTIES

  • Interview, train, coordinate, and maintain volunteer relationships for all Program volunteers in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator on recruiting volunteers to support the overall success of the residents.  This includes networking with local organizations for possible volunteer, career, and event opportunities for the residents.
  • Track and maintain a volunteer resource list, hours, and contact information.
  • Conduct meetings with teachers and volunteers for training, information, or appreciation.
  • Be present for classes with new teachers or one-time training to assess the class’s effectiveness and address any needs that may arise.

Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.
  • Have at least one year of experience in a career and educational learning environment. Understanding social service settings that included providing related services in the following areas: planning, education, assessment, or administration.
  • Have a working familiarity with issues and obstacles faced by people in crisis and homeless situations with life-controlling problems. The ability to use de-escalation exercises when needed.
  • Have compassion and understanding toward the target population of the program.
  • Mandated Reporter Training (provided upon hire)
  • First Aid training and CPR Certification (provided upon hire).
  • Must have a current California Driver’s license (min 5 yrs.), a clean DMV report, and be able to drive Shepherd’s Gate’s vehicles.
  • Schedule is Monday- Thursday 8:30 am -4:30 pm with some flexibility
  • Must pass a background investigation.

The Residential Coordinator (RC) is responsible for campus and resident safety and ensuring consistency in program operations in accordance with Shepherd’s Gate Program policy and procedures. The RC works under the direction and support of the Residential Coordinator Supervisor (RCS), sharing feedback on the resident’s progression of goals and compliance with program criteria. The RC uses relational and functional skills to support residents and complete residents’ needs and other job tasks. Must be able to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.

Job Duties and Requirements (not a complete job description of the job):

About the position:

The Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist with the administrative functions of the ministry. This person will assist in the Human Resources Department. The administrative Assistant is often the first point of contact for the public, donors, and prospective residents. They must exude professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail while handling varied duties and interruptions throughout the workday. The Administrative Assistant will assist and support the Office and Facilities Coordinator and Human Resources Manager. Must be able to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.

  • Answer phones, monitor general voice mailbox, direct calls and messages to the appropriate person, or answer questions and provide resources.
  • Greet and determine appropriate outcomes for every campus visitor, directing walk-ins to the appropriate staff or resources. This could include visitors, donors, volunteers, vendors, and individuals in acute crisis and emergency response personnel.
  • Assist donors with receiving donations, electronic receipting, and recognizing social media opportunities.
  • Receive incoming packages, mail, and donations and move them to the appropriate locations.
  • Maintain organization, supplies, and cleanliness of the main office, kitchen area, and restrooms
  • Perform clerical duties; maintain documents, spreadsheet reports, and calendars using (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, SharePoint, and Salesforce).
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and Human resources duties.
  • Maintain and update safety handbook, procedures, and training schedule as needed.
  • Assist with staff events and meetings.
  • Assist with Human Resources special projects.
