One of our favorite parts of serving homeless women and children is seeing how much they are blessed by your kindness. They are almost overwhelmed!
Many of these precious families struggle for years without their basic needs being met. They sleep on a couch or in a car. They regularly go without food. They can’t buy clothes that fit or school supplies in the fall.
But when they come to Shepherd’s Gate, all that changes. Suddenly they have enough food. They sleep safely every night. They are introduced to a God who loves them unconditionally.
We can’t count the number of times a child has burst out with a tearful “Thank you!” at the smallest kindness. A little boy gets a coat and his eyes shine with gratitude — he doesn’t know he’ll also receive clothes and shoes. Or a little girl receives a backpack in purple, her favorite color. She grins from ear to ear, not knowing that it’s stuffed with school supplies inside.
This is where children learn about the abundant love of God. After so much hardship, it’s easy to feel unloved and unlovable. But God’s grace and love abound here. Thanks to your generosity and kindness, the families who come here get a picture of what God’s love must be like . . . and it changes them from the inside out.
Thank you for partnering with us in this humbling, amazing work!
