One of the things I love most about Christmas is how it can turn people of all ages into excited children. The joy and wonder that we all experience at Christmas is a blessing that God has given to us. It is often seen in the faces of children as they look at a beautifully decorated tree or see a stocking bulging at the seams. The holidays bring excitement, anticipation, and wonder. That’s what I believe God intended. He wants us all to delight in what Christmas really means. It means that our Savior has come! The greatest gift of all has been given to us. Those words are easy to write and easy to say, but they are hard to fully grasp. That’s why we need tangible reminders and that’s why Christmas is such a special time here at Shepherds’ Gate. Our Annual Holiday Gift Distribution allows us to help mothers give meaningful gifts to their children. Gifts are a small demonstration of what God has done for us. It’s a tangible way children can feel how loved they are, both by their mothers and by their heavenly Father. We often hear some variation of the statement “This is the best Christmas ever!” on Christmas Day. That’s what we strive for, and that’s what friends like you make possible. You see, it isn’t about the gifts and the tree — it’s about what they represent I believe it takes a heart full of wonder to stand in awe of all that God has done for us. The women and children get a glimpse of that wonder on Christmas morning. And that is what makes the day, and the entire Christmas season, so important. Mothers will have the opportunity to select gifts for their children on December 14th. Please pray that God will use that opportunity to show them how much He loves them. If you are interested in donating toys, gifts or food for the Holiday Gift Distribution, all items must be delivered to the Shepherd’s Gate Campuses by December 12th.
