Stories

We don’t just believe in miracles, we must have them!

I heard a child screaming. I ran from my office at Shepherd’s Gate and entered the living room where several of our precious women and staff were gathered around the sofa. Little Bobby lay there screaming in pain as his foot was propped on a pillow. A cut ran across the side of his red and blue, swollen foot. He had caught it in the spokes of his bike! His mom was running to get her car keys to rush him to the emergency room. I hate to see anyone hurting but especially little children. Compassion flooded my heart. As we gathered around him and prayed in Jesus’ Name, something happened that I will never forget. The cut simply vanished before our eyes and his foot returned to normal size and healthy color! He jumped down and ran outside to play as his mom entered the room shouting, “Where is Bobby?” She didn’t wait for an answer, but ran outside, and found him playing in the yard. She asked him what happened to his foot and he smiled really big and shouted: “Jesus healed me!!” “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.” Matthew 18:19 NLT “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” John 15:7 NLT “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” John 14:12 – 14 NLT The sixteen years that Carla and I have been privileged to serve at Shepherd’s Gate have been filled with ups and downs, trials, victories, joy, pain, discouragements, and also many miracles. I have learned that God is with anyone who dares to stand on His word and who obeys Him. His love is stronger than our fears and failures. We don’t just believe in miracles, we MUST have them! The challenges are too great. Jesus is sufficient for every need you or I will ever face. I hope to share with you in future blogs more of the stories from the ongoing miracle called Shepherd’s Gate. I pray that they will inspire and challenge you. May all Glory be to God!! How has God been working in your life? I’d love to hear your story in the comments below.
