It is with tremendous sorrow that we must share the untimely death of Steve McRee, our beloved CEO. After a brief illness over the weekend, Steve unexpectedly passed away early Tuesday morning.
A passionate advocate for abused and homeless women and children, Steve served as CEO of Shepherd’s Gate for the past 21 years, along with his wife Carla. During his tenure, the ministry saw unprecedented growth, expanding from a small 3-bedroom home in Livermore, to serving over hundreds of women in brand-new state-of-the-art facilities in both Livermore and Brentwood.
Steve’s passion, leadership and compassion for hurting families will be missed immensely. But the Christ-centered ministry to women and children provided by Shepherd’s Gate will continue on.
The service for Steve will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 21 at Community Presbyterian Church, 222 West El Pintado Road, Danville, 94526.
