We had a wonderful time opening our doors and having a BBQ lunch with over 360 people from our community at our Livermore and Brentwood Open Houses. While the kids enjoyed crafts and the jumpy house, the adults took tours of our houses and learned more about the program at Shepherd’s Gate. We heard testimonies from graduates of our program who are doing amazing in their jobs and with their children.
Steve and Carla McRee shared an update about Shepherd’s Gate and the impact it has had in the last 30 years! In the last 30 years, Shepherd’s Gate has served over 11,000 women and children, helping them rebuild their lives and impacting their future generations. Everyone in attendance was excited to be a part of the work that Shepherd’s Gate is doing and to be more involved in the future. One guest said, “I had no idea how many services you provide beyond just shelter.”
Steve also shared about how he and Carla have appreciated the support of the community during his recovery. He has been more active at the office and with meetings but enjoyed being back out at the events. Sharing the stories of the women whose lives have been impacted at Shepherd’s Gate is truly one of Steve’s favorite things to do!
