It may seem a little early to be thinking about sending children back to school. But the weeks fly by and we have a lot of children to help! Our backpack and school supply drive isn’t just for the dozens of children at Shepherd’s Gate. It’s grown to include the needy children throughout our community. In this economy, a lot of children won’t have what they need this fall unless we help. We can’t let that happen because education is often the deciding factor in a child’s life between reaching their potential or struggling with poverty and homelessness for another generation. Children are the most innocent victims of domestic violence, addiction and poverty. They deserve a fair shot to get an education. That’s why we are encouraging friends to collect backpacks and school supplies all to join in this effort. We can use as much as you can gather! Set a deadline and then bring everything down to 1660 Portola Avenue in Livermore no later than August 26th. Invite a friend to join you in collecting supplies.
