At Shepherd’s Gate, we believe in restoring hope to women and children in crisis. For over 40 years, we’ve provided a Christ-centered refuge where women break free from addiction, domestic violence, and homelessness—and step into the life God intended for them.

🔹 Be a source of hope—support, encourage, and pray with women and children in the program.
🔹 Ensure the home is safe, structured, and aligned with program guidelines.
🔹 Lead with grace and accountability, helping women stay on track with their goals.
🔹 Drive residents to appointments and essential locations (company vehicle provided).
🔹 Foster healthy connections while maintaining strong personal boundaries.
🔹 Demonstrate values and the heart of Jesus in a Christ-centered community.
🔹 Provide spiritual and Biblical guidance to the women, children, staff, and volunteers.

Donation Assistants- Shepherd’s Gate New Life Store is looking for outgoing individuals to serve as the faces of our New Life Thrift Store.

Shepherd’s Gate has positively impacted women and children in crisis for over 40 years. We provide an exceptional program for the women and the children we serve. We have a well-respected staff that changes lives through the work they do.

JOB SUMMARY

The Donation Assistant’s objective is to bring revenue to our ministry by receiving donated items in our retail establishment or picking up larger items at establishments that donate them to the Shepherd’s Gate New Life Store. All of this is accomplished in accordance with the purpose of Shepherd’s Gate, which is to meet the needs of homeless women and children in the name of Jesus Christ. 

About the position (not a complete job description of the job):

  • Customer Service-Greet public in a friendly and professional manner
  • Receiving, sorting and processing donated clothing and household items for resale
  • Pricing and stocking shelves
  • Assist with furniture pick-ups
  • Assist with store and yard maintenance
  • Attend and assist with donation events
  • Potential for driving a 15′ box truck
  • You can expect to build relationships with donors and team members and see your impact on the lives of those around you.
  • We provide growth and promotional opportunities for dedicated team members.
  • The salary is $18.00 an hour.
  • Full and or part-time positions available.
  • We are located in Livermore, CA.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a committed Christian faith.
  • Must be able to uphold Shepherd’s Gate Christian values, as outlined in our Statement of Faith, adhere to our Christian Code of Conduct, and demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of customer service experience. If you have more relative experience not shown on your resume, please send a cover letter.
  • Available to work a varied schedule between Monday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Accounting/HR Assistant-Excellent opportunities.

About the position:

The Accounting/HR Assistant’s responsibility is to assist the Director of Business and Finance and the HR Manager with accounting/HR responsibilities. They are to assist other departments in completing special tasks. Must be able to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.

Job duties: (not a complete job description list)

Accounting

  • Data input of receivables (QuickBooks and First Republic remote deposit via the Internet)
  • Prepare bank deposits, including electronic deposits
  • Manage Accounts Payable, including vendor relationships
  • Banking support for our New Life Store
  • Assist with Payroll and wage reports
  • Manage gift cards and petty cash accounts
  • Word processing and Excel spreadsheets
  • Assist in compiling and delivering reports
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding
  • Assist with HR projects (open enrollment, audit files, staff training etc.)
  • Filing and file maintenance
  • Frequently drives to deposit money or run errands
  • Assisting with special events when needed
  • Occasionally assist other departments with special projects or tasks when needed.

Requirements (not a complete job description of the job):

  • Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience with QuickBooks
  • Minimum 2 years of general office experience or minimum 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Please send a cover letter if you have more relevant experience not shown on your resume
  • Minimum 1 year Human Resources experience
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with vendors, staff, and others who have inquired about financial and other matters. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Excellent organizational and time management and the ability to multi-task and follow through until tasks are complete
  • Ability to write business correspondence, reports, and applications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and individuals
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as climbing up and down stairs, moving, storing, and stacking items
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds across campus for various duties and events as needed.
  • Frequent errands off-site requiring personal transportation or the use of a company van.
  • Must have a current California Driver’s license (min 3 yrs.), a clean DMV report, and be able to drive Shepherd’s Gate’s vehicles.
  • Must pass a background investigation.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Ability to demonstrate Christian values and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian Community environment
  • Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community.

Benefits:

The salary is $25.00 -$27.00 an hour.
