Volunteer Highlight
January 2018 begins my 26th year as a Shepherd’s Gate volunteer. After meeting and bonding with AliceAnn when my family prepared some meals for the women and kids, AliceAnn invited me to join the Board of Directors in 1992. As a Board member, my main mission was to raise funds to build the Transition Home Campus. God’s most amazing miracles flowed throughout this process and from the entire time I have been involved with His Shepherd’s Gate.
It has been a joy to represent Shepherd’s Gate over these years by speaking to many types of groups, including Rotary, Kiwanis and other social clubs, churches, and Girl Scouts.
I missed the connection with the residents, and a few years ago began giving them rides to court and doctor appointments. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know them and hear their stories and how God is changing their lives. I strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to give a beautiful gift and receive an even better one!
My volunteer time began with the desire to help this great mission. It became very clear, as Jesus drew me closer, I was receiving so many more blessings than I was giving! I am forever grateful that He led me to Shepherd’s Gate.
