It’s that time of year again — time to start collecting backpacks and school supplies for children in need! This is a fantastic way to bless not only children at Shepherd’s Gate, but needy children in our community as well.
Every August, children in our neighborhoods go to school without a backpack. Worse, they head to class without the basic supplies they need to successfully learn in school. With so many people struggling to stay afloat financially, often families simply can’t afford the many items on each classroom list. For children who have often already been victimized by poverty, domestic violence, homelessness and other traumatic experiences, it’s especially important to have a good start in school. The odds are against them but you and I can help them on their way to a brighter future! Please tell your family and friends, co-workers and church family — we need everyone to step up and get involved to help these kids! Please drop off all items at Livermore Campus at 1660 Portola Avenue by Aug. 17th or to the Brentwood Campus at 605 Sycamore Avenue by July 27th.
