With the support of our amazing community and partners, over 15,000 women and children have called Shepherd’s Gate home since 1984. Within the walls of our buildings, glimmers of hope have transformed into lasting change for women and families experiencing abuse, addiction and homelessness.
As our buildings age, assembling a team of trade partners that can repair and maintain our buildings is essential to the success of the women and children we serve. Their healing journey begins when they feel sheltered and safe. Together we can help them build and live their dreams. We welcome all forms of partnership! Shepherds’ Gate is a registered 501c3. A donation of materials, labor costs, project funding or funding to our Road to Freedom program will reinforce the foundation of success that our women and children are building off of.
Our Livermore campus is located at 1660 Portola Ave on 2.5 acres. This property has been built in phases with the help of HomeAid, KB Homes and Shea Homes. In 1999 we opened our administrative offices. In 2000 our first two-story Residential Hall with a square footage of 6,103 was built. This hall has 10 rooms for our women and children and is dorm style with a central bathroom and showers. In 2002 the 5 transitional housing units we call cottages were built. Each cottage is around 812 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 bath. In 2004 a second Residential Hall was built totaling 9,604 square feet. This hall has three stories which includes basement and it also has an elevator. There are also 10 rooms for our women and children in this hall and the bathrooms are attached. In 2015 our Life Center opened. At 8,250 square feet this building provides a space for all program services to take place like, classes, childcare and case management. Our Brentwood campus is located at 605 Sycamore Ave. This property has also been built in phases with the help of HomeAid, Signature Properties and Shea Homes. The Brentwood Campus opened its doors in January of 2006. The 8,585 square foot building in the photo along with almost 2 acres was sold by Signature Properties for $1.00. There are 8 rooms for our women and children and 4 Jack and Jill bathrooms. In 2020 Signature Properties built an additional 985 square feet to the main building, providing a space for case management offices, a Learning and Career Center and our Afterschool program. Shea Homes is currently building a new 2,877 square foot addition that includes 3 transitional cottages and a pantry. Each Cottage is 702 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath.
