“I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN ME WILL LIVE, EVEN AFTER DYING.”–JOHN 11:25 (NLT)
Easter is a time for us to reflect on the resurrection and what it truly means. Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life,” and most of us think that means that we will be resurrected at the end of this world to live an eternity with God. That is true, and it’s a wonderful truth, yet sometimes we forget we need this Gospel resurrection every day.
That’s one of the things the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate have taught me. They are so willing to die to their past life — to their hurts and struggles — that they joyfully hold on to the idea of new life in every moment they are given.
I think we can also learn to live in the resurrection more fully by dying to ourselves each and every day. We can leave our sins behind, we can forgive, we can move on, and we can be free! The resurrection isn’t just for Easter. It’s for every minute of every day.
Thanks to the generosity and prayers of faithful partners like you, the precious women and children at Shepherd’s Gate experience this awesome resurrecting power of Jesus every day. It’s my prayer that you will, too!
