For many of us, remembering Thanksgiving brings to mind some happy memories: family gathered around the table, eating until we’re stuffed, laughing and sharing stories with those we love most. Sometimes stress and busyness creep in, but for the most part, we enjoy the time together. But imagine not having a table. Or even a home. Imagine not having enough food for a regular meal, let alone a turkey feast. Imagine being separated from those you love most. That’s the reality that homeless, addicted and abused women and children face. At a time when everyone around them celebrates the good things in life . . . they’re struggling so hard that gratitude is hard to come by. It’s amazing how much that changes when a woman and her children come to Shepherd’s Gate. They’re surrounded by love from the moment they enter the door. Everything theyneed to rebuild their lives is provided —from the basics, like food, shelter andclothing . . . to tools like education, medical care, and counseling . . . to big doses of TLC like a special turkey dinner or gifts at Christmas. Everything is done with the hope of showing women and their children how much God loves and values them. It’s all possible because of our faithful donors, volunteers and prayer warriors. We want you to know: you’re making a difference. Please know that when we thank God for our blessings —you are at the top of our list.
