The Residential Coordinator position is relational as well as functional. This person is responsible for supervising and holding the residents accountable for their program and assisting with needs. The Residential Coordinator is the key contact for all resident matters on campus. Their priority is to keep the campus safe and running smoothly. The Residential Coordinator will work under the direction and support of the Residential Coordinator Supervisor and alongside the Program staff, sharing feedback on the resident’s progression of goals and compliance with program criteria.
- Create a healthy community living environment through relationship building with residents to foster personal growth and safety for all residents. This includes setting appropriate boundaries, utilizing verbal praise, empowering the resident to do what they can do for themselves in order to build self-esteem, and providing direction as needed.
- Be available to minister to, encourage, and support residents in their learning process. Intentional observation and conversations are necessary to prevent crisis situations. If a crisis occurs, processing with the resident is essential to support the resident in their individualized program.
- Intervene in crisis situations and provide conflict resolution within your scope of training.
- Ensure residents are operating according to Program Guidelines. Hold residents accountable for appointments, program activities and program guidelines. This includes conducting regular room searches, drug testing and supervising household chores.
- Be available to assist residents with their daily needs. Assist residents in planning transportation to appointments; drive as needed.
- Supervise and be present for household activities and events as assigned.
- Responsible for implementing campus safety procedures in response to all emergencies or disasters.
- Act in accordance with each resident’s current case plan. This includes being responsible to stay informed on each resident case.
- Responsible for observing and logging the resident’s behavior for team use.
- Attend and participate in weekly Residential Coordinator and Program Team Meeting to collaborate on resident case planning and program issues.
- Communicate campus activity information to appropriate staff such as approved visitors, shift changes, resident concerns, etc.
- Inventory the need for household maintenance. Report all building and equipment damage or unsafe conditions to ensure a timely response.
- Provide orientation for new volunteers and work alongside them as needed.
- Supervise medication distribution through resident’s daily logging and communicate changes in medication or medical conditions to the Case Management team when necessary.
- Perform daily administrative duties (Answer phones, check messages, logging, staff notes, and other necessary paperwork).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Possess the ability to multi-task and follow through until tasks are complete.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with all personnel of all backgrounds, under stressful circumstances.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets, database and reporting tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment and develop harmonious relationships.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to provide a current tuberculosis clearance certificate prior to employment and the ability to maintain a tuberculosis clearance certificate during employment.
- Have a current valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance and access to an automobile (if needed).
- First Aid training and CPR Certification (provided upon hire).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education or experience in the social services field is preferred.
- Have a working familiarity with issues and obstacles faced by people in crisis and/or homeless situations with life-controlling problems.
- Ability to demonstrate a committed Christian faith.
- Frequently moves around the campus to interact with staff and residents (e)
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs as needed to access some of the campus (e)
- Ability to move items under 40 lbs. (e)
