Welcome!

Welcome to the new Shepherd’s Gate blog. Welcome! We want to use these posts to connect with our supporters, encourage our donors and engage in a conversation with everyone who has a heart for abused and battered women. We hope you’ll think about this as a conversation between friends.

As the Executive Director, you’ll hear from me about how my heart beats for the homeless women and their children in our area. I hope to inspire you with how you can change lives through your support, your gifts and your prayers.

But my thoughts aren’t the only ones you’ll read on our blog.

You’ll hear from Carla McRee, our Associate Director, to get her wisdom and important perspective on the important issues facing homeless and abused women both here in California and also in Costa Rica. And Jennifer Harp, our Director of Marketing, will also join in on the conversation sharing, among other things, about news from our community and the efforts of our amazing volunteers.

Your voice is the most important one. We want to hear from you. We need you to join in and make this a conversation. Ask questions. Make comments. Encourage. Suggest. Challenge. Participate.

We are thankful for your support and participation.

In Jesus’ Name,

Steve McRee

Hi, Steve. What a fun idea to have a blog!

I join the community and the women and kids you, Carla, and Wonderful Staff have helped in saying, “Thank you ALL for your dedicated and faithful service.” Of course, volunteers, Prayer Warriors, and donors have been a great help, too. They probably feel like I do that we can never catch up with all God gives when we step out to serve Him!

This has been a tough year for Shepherd’s Gate. It’s a good thing God is in control and has given you all the gift of Faith. I am praying that this year the financial burden is lifted beyond all expectation!

Thank you Sandee! Carla and I appreciate all your hard work and love that you have poured out to us and the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate over the years. You are a blessing. Thank you for the kind words.
      Love you, Steve and Carla

Blessings on Shepherds Gate for your faithful service to those in need. I have witnessed first hand the difference that SG has made in ladies lives and, that they in turn reach out to others. May the Lord watch over and provide in 2010.

Steve, you may not remember me…but I worked with you and Carla in ’96 or ’97 with a few suggestions on fundraising/development. Just a note to let you know I still consult with many nonprofits–many in California and now Kentucky where we live–and recently used Shepherd’s Gate as a good model/example for a women’s shelter in Frankfort, KY. Your website is an ideal model for them and the programs/facilities you have created provides a “vision” for what their future might be. It’s great to see you doing such fantastic work. God Bless…Harlan
